Susan Brooks, 5th District
Congressional Candidate, claims to be a
conservative, while being a “fresh” face for the 5th Congressional
District.  So, let’s look at reality.
Susan Brooks claims to be a fiscal conservative.  However, a fiscal conservative would oppose
the large government bailouts, but Candidate Brooks has publicly stated her
support for the largest bailout (TARP) in U.S. history.  She also claims to be pro-life and even has
it on her political ad.  However, if you
read her position and listen to her public statements at 5th
District Candidate Forums, it is clear that she supports exceptions for
abortion and has sat on boards that fund Planned Parenthood, all after claiming to be a pro-life supporter.
It would be nice if a politician, instead of talking the talk
would actually walk the walk.  She is
attempting to position herself as a conservative when in reality, she is a RINO (Republican In Name Only).  It’s OK that she is a moderate, but don’t try
to trick the public into electing you as a conservative when you are not. This is called bait and switch and if a
company would do this – they would go to jail.
Moving away from her deception on the issues, let’s move to
her status as a political insider. She claims to be a fresh face for Hoosiers, however the evidence indicates that Candidate Brooks is the consummate insider. While most Hoosiers work in the private sector, candidate Brooks has been
living off the taxpayer. Her most
recent taxpayer paid position was serving as a Vice President at Ivy Tech
 Community College, a job
for which she was hired without having ANY workforce development experience. I wish I could get hired at a position that
pays a whopping salary of $220,000 per year with no experience. Sounds like a sweetheart to me. The
preceding taxpayer paid position was her appointment as a U.S. attorney. Going a little further back, guess what – she
worked in another taxpayer paid position as a Deputy Mayor for the City of Indianapolis?  Wow, over a decade living off the
taxpayers. The one private sector job that she actually
held was as a registered lobbyist for Ice Miller Law Firm. So, who is the insider? Sounds like Susan
Brooks is the true political insider.
Being an insider does not just end at her doorstep, it is a
true family affair. Her husband David Brooks, the former GOP Republican Center Township Chair in Marion County,
at the end of 2011 received a sweetheart deal of $225,000 for a few months
work from the Marion
County taxpayer. By the way, this was right after Candidate
Brooks announced for Congress knowing that she could not campaign on the
taxpayer by continuing her position at Ivy Tech.  By the way, Marion County GOP Chair Kyle
Walker and Ryan Vaughn, both Brooks supporters, made sure that the Brooks
family could continue to live off the taxpayer.
No wonder, they have both endorsed her.
They need to ensure that they eventually get a return on investment for
their support.
As a common citizen, I wish my family was paid by the public
with a whopping dual salary of $420,000/year (this does not include any other
public income that Attorney David Brooks might have in any other government
contracts).  All of this is at our expense as taxpayers. We
should be outraged by candidate Brooks' talk about being a fresh new face – when
in fact they are the epitome of the political establishment. Just say NO to this hypocrisy on May 8th.
This blog post is nonsense. I guess one candidate out there has to lie because he can't run on any record. Susan is a true conservative who has never run for political office. She is a pro-life Catholic and does not support abortion. She wants a smaller federal government, a strong military, less government regualtions and lower taxes. Why don't you give her a call and get your facts straight instead of tearing down someone you apparently know nothing about.
ReplyDeleteYour first mistake is assuming I know nothing about Susan and David Brooks. If you're a PC in Marion County, to know David Brooks is to dislike him and that is simply because he goes out of his way to make himself unlikeable and create division. Susan is great...on paper, however there are many PCs in the organization that question her judgement simply because the two are complete opposites. And, not in a romantic comedy sort of way.
ReplyDeleteShe may not have run for office, but she is an insider. Her entire recent career has been made at taxpayer expense. And, if she was prolife, she would have been endorsed by our local Right to Life board. They had no issue in endorsing 3 candidates for this race. Also, no real prolife supporter in their right mind would join a board that gives money to Planned Parenthood. The organization's very mission is to "plan" someone's "parenthood." If they were merely women's health issues, they would be called something fluffy like "The Woman's Health Center."
Quit drinking the Kool Ade.
You assume you know Susan and you don't. Susan worked for Ice Miller as an attorney, Ivy Tech Community College as Senior Vice President for Workforce Development and as General Counsel. As well as running her own law practice. Susan served as US Attorney for the SD of Indiana for 6 years. So her career is not tax payer funded. As a conservative, you should be thrilled that there is a organization like the Womens Fund, that takes the burden off of the government and raises money for things like paps and breast exams. But no instead of trying to win an election on it merits, its a blind attempt to deflect from the fact David Macintosh in a carpet bagger. 75% of all children in the United State are not planned hence the name Planned Parenthood.
